TMCSC Positions

 

ACTIVE COMMUNITY AT THURGOOD MARSHALL (ACT) REPRESENTATIVE

The Active Community in Thurgood Marshall is a community service student organization at UCSD. ACT provides service to the students of Thurgood Marshall College, students of UCSD, and the larger San Diego community and hosts several events each quarter to benefit the student body or the larger community.

  • Responsible for attending ACT meetings
  • Voting member of TMCSC

 

THURGOOD MARSHALL COLLEGE TELEVISION (TMTV) REPRESENTATIVE

TMTV is a completely student-run station attracting undergraduate students all over campus, especially students of TMC. With opportunities for filming, editing, writing, website creation and more, there is a little something for everyone.

  • Responsible for attending TMTV meetings
  • Voting member of TMCSC

 

ELECTRONIC MEDIA COORDINATOR

In today’s digital age, every organization needs a tech-savvy individual keeping the bits and pixels of the organization flashing and up-to-date. The Electronic Media Coordinator is that individual for TMCSC.

  • Should have experience with maintaining a website
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate information on the TMCSC website
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

SPIRIT REPRESENTATIVE

TMCSC is filled with members representing various organizations whose responsibilities range from reporting on the updates from said orgs to getting Marshall students involved on their campus. Spirit Representatives are the event-planning backbone of TMCSC; they work to plan and host events that will boost the spirits of their fellow Marshall students and increase the visibility of TMCSC.

  • Responsible for planning events for Marshall students
  • Will work alongside fellow Spirit Representatives in TMCSC to plan at least two events targeted toward Marshall students a quarter.
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

FIRST YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

The transition into college can be a daunting experience for many individuals, and each year, hundreds of students start college unsure of what the future has in store. Along with representing the concerns to TMCSC of first year students, the First Year Representative serves to help transition their fellow first year students into the new environment of university.

  • Must be a First Year Student at time of appointment
  • Will plan at least one event per quarter targeted toward First Year Students in Thurgood Marshall College
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

TRANSFER REPRESENTATIVE

UCSD is a prestigious school that attracts many students. In 2016, Thurgood Marshall College enrolled the largest percentage of transfers (20%) since its inception. It is important to TMCSC find representation for our student groups that add to the diversity of our campus.

  • Must be a Transfer Student at time of appointment
  • Will plan at least one event per quarter targeted toward Transfer Students in Thurgood Marshall College
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

REVELLE RESIDENTS REPRESENTATIVE

The high demand of housing in Marshall college leads to a number of Marshall students being housed in other colleges’ housing. The Village/Revelle Residents Representative is responsible for helping to bridge the distance between their fellow students housed in the Village and Revelle and the Marshall community along with airing the concerns of any of the students Students.

  • Must be a Revelle resident
  • Will plan at least one event per quarter targeted toward TMC students housed in the Village and Revelle
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE

UCSD is a campus with students that come from all parts of the globe. Thurgood Marshall College is a bastion for diversity, and as such, it is only natural that TMCSC would have a position solely dedicated to representing the International Student population on campus. 

  • Must be an International Student
  • Will plan at least one event per quarter targeted toward International Students in Thurgood Marshall College
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

ASSOCIATED STUDENTS CONCERTS AND EVENTS (ASCE) REPRESENTATIVE

ASCE consists of UC San Diego students that book, coordinate, and are responsible for all of the largest events and traditions at UC San Diego, such as Fall Y’all, Hullabaloo, and Sun God Festival. ASCE prides itself in taking on a wide range of other concerts and events including shows at The Loft, Bear Gardens, and public ticket events.

  • Responsible for updating TMCSC on ASCE events
  • Responsible for attending ASCE Meetings (Mondays 4 PM, 4th Floor PC)
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

COMMUNITY STANDARDS BOARD (CSB) REPRESENTATIVE

In keeping with the spirit of Thurgood Marshall College, the Community Standards Board provides information to students regarding campus legal services and the Student Conduct Code. The Community Standards Board serves as a fair and impartial peer hearing body for non-academic misconduct charges within TMC.

  • Will work alongside fellow CSB representatives in TMCSC
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

HOUSING DINING HOSPITALITY (HDH) REPRESENTATIVE

From dining halls to resident halls, you would be hard pressed to find a service on campus that isn’t in someway provided by HDH. The HDH Representative is the liaison between Housing Dining Hospitality and TMCSC. The Representative will ensure that decisions made by HDH are being made with the students’ best interests in mind.

  • Responsible for attending meetings with HDH
  • Will serve as a voice of student concerns to HDH
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

OFFICE OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT & INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES (OASIS) REPRESENTIVE

OASIS contributes to the overall campus climate and help students to gain confidence in themselves as scholars and develop their leadership ability and cultural competence. We believe that with such preparation, UCSD graduates will contribute mightily to a more just society and a more positive social fabric.

  • Responsible for attending OASIS meetings
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

STUDENT FEE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SFAC) REPRESENTATIVE

SFAC is responsible for evaluating Student Fee Funded Units and making recommendations on allocations of the Student Fees that every student pays while attending UC San Diego. SFAC sees that the proposed Student Fee uses are in the best interests of the university and its students, and in compliance with existing policies and guidelines

  • Responsible for attending SFAC meetings
  • Will work to teach the SFAC Shadow the workings of SFAC
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

  

STUDENT FEE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SFAC) SHADOW

SPORTS FACILITIES ADVISORY BOARD (SFAB) REPRESENTATIVE

SFAB is charged by the Chancellor and given the responsibility of ensuring that the sports facilities have the emphases, breadth, and coordination to complement optimally the philosophy, missions, and goals of UCSD. 

  • Responsible for attending SFAB meetings
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

STUDENT ORGANIZED VOTER ACCESS COMMITTEE (SOVAV) REPRESENTATIVES

The Student Organized Voter Access Committee (SOVAC) is a non-partisan committee under the Office of External Affairs of the Associated Students. SOVAC seeks to increase voter registration rates within the UCSD community, facilitate a positive discussion about voting, and encourage student voter turnout by being the primary representative for voter registration on the UCSD campus, holding informational workshops and speaker series, executing a non-partisan advertising campaign, and collaboration with a wide variety of student groups and external organizations. 

  • Responsible for attending SOVAC meetings
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

MARSHALL TRANSFERS AND COMMUTER (MTAC) REPRESENTATIVES

The Marshall Transfers and Commuter (MTAC) Representatives partake in weekly meetings to represent the commuters and transfers of Marshall College. MTAC is an organization that hosts events targeted towards this demographic and works with the Transfer Representative to make sure these events go smoothly and offer events towards these students.

  •  Responsible for attending MTAC meetings
  • Voting member of TMCSC

 

UNIVERSITY CENTERS ADVISORY BOARD (UCAB) REPRESENTATIVE

UCAB (University Centers Advisory Board) is an advisory group to ensure that the University Centers (Price Center and Student Center) succeed in providing for the needs of students

  • Responsible for attending UCAB meetings
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

WELLNESS CLUSTER STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD (WCSAB) REPRESENTATIVE

WCSAB helps to ensure that the health and well-being needs of UC San Diego students are identified and met, and their interests are represented in the development of policies, programs and services that support their health and well-being. WCSAB helps set the future direction of health and wellbeing services by reviewing fees and providing input in the negotiations of the UC system-wide Student Health Insurance Plan (UCSHIP)

  • Responsible for attending WCSAB meetings
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC

 

STUDENT-AT-LARGE, SCHOLAR & CITZEN

The Cabinet of TMCSC is composed of its Chair, Vice-Chairs, Directors, and Students-at-Large. The Cabinet is the executive board of TMCSC and deals with the internal organization and planning of student council.

  • Must be a First Year Student at time of appointment
  • Responsible for attending Cabinet meetings preceding general council meetings
  • Will promote the motto of Scholar & Citizen through quarterly programming
  • Will work with the TMC Partner Schools Program
  • Cabinet member of TMCSC
  • Voting member of TMCSC

LIBRARY STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (LSAC) REPRESENTATIVE

LSAC is a group of UC San Diego students and Library staff working together to provide the diverse UC San Diego student community with the best possible library spaces, services, and collections.

  • Responsible for attending LSAC meetings
  • Non-voting member of TMCSC
